INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Indiana State Police say they've arrested two motorists on drunken driving charges after both crashed their vehicles into parked patrol cars at an Indianapolis accident scene.
The collisions occurred about 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 465 on the city's northeast side. Police say one trooper responding to a vehicle striking a deer had parked his patrol car with emergency lights on in a travel lane to protect the disabled car when a car driven by a 48-year-old Muncie man struck the rear of the trooper's car.
After another trooper arrived to investigate the second crash, a 28-year-old Indianapolis man drove his SUV into the second cruiser behind the other three vehicles. Both intoxicated motorists suffered minor injuries.
Both of the state police cars were listed as total losses.
