WHAS11’s Jacqueline McLean took the Health Care Reform debate to the streets. The one thing she found from the unscientific poll was that changing the health system is not going to be an easy sell to the public, with or without a government-run plan. Most of what she heard fell into two categories. People wanted choices. And they wanted those who couldn’t afford health care to be able to get affordable quality care as well. “What I know from what I’m hearing is that a government plan would help a little bit. There’s a lot of people without health insurance. I’m one of them,” said one person who participated in our poll. The majority of people Jacqueline talked to did not want a government-run insurance plan to compete with private insurance companies. The rest of the categories pretty much evened out. A lot of people said they flat out didn’t know if they could trust the government to overhaul the health care system. A lot of the confusion could be because there are a handful of health care bills in congress now.
