LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Fifth grader Madison Roy is reading one of two books she helped write. The book is Flower: A Girl with Leukemia.

The book is a joint venture between Madison and her older brother Reagan. The main character is based on a little boy Madison knew who battled the disease.

Flower started as a comic book with Madison's brother doing the illustrations. It later became a book sold to raise money for Leukemia.

They were then contacted by local activist Dr. Jesse Harris to expand their cause to include Sickle Cell Anemia a second book was written called Petethra's Secret.

Both books have now raised about $9,000 split evenly into both causes.

The 10-year-old who attends St. Raphael School is teaching fellow students and adults by example. Madison's grandmother is proud of both her and her brother who also collect aluminum cans for the cause.

Offering support through words, pictures, money and most of all caring. Madison says you are never too young to volunteer and she is living proof.

So what's next for this child who is mature beyond her years? She wants to be a journalist, a doctor and a singer like Taylor Swift, or all three.

My money is on Madison for whatever she wants to do.
