LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) - - It's one of the most popular dietary supplements in the country, but as it turns out, it's not as helpful as originally thought.
The American Heart Association says that eating oily fish is good for your heart so millions of people take fish oil supplements, hoping for the benefit.
However, a new study says that capsules of Omega 3 Fatty Acid don't deliver on the promise of offering as much benefit as eating fish.
In fact, people who eat fish twice a week are less likely to have heart disease.
It's not clear why getting the fatty acid in food rather than pills makes a difference, but evidential, it does.
