LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It's the sound that may be the most unbearable to a parent, a baby crying. A new study says it is safe to let them cry it out.
The study looks at levels of cortical stress hormones in a child brain. It found that babies allowed to cry for short periods of time are no more stressed than babies whose parents choose to calm them. In other words, a little crying doesn't do any harm.
But the question is, can parents handle it?
The study also says that hearing too much of this sound can lead to depression. However, the good news is that it's usually just a phase for both baby and parent.
