(WHAS11 and ABC News) -- One social media app may be changing the way people eat.

Instagram, the photo posting social media application for phones, has been at the center of a new study, the focus, the pictures of people's food that they post.

The new study suggest that looking at the photos of food on the app may make people less hungry.

That's because according to a study of salty and alternatively sweet foods by Brigham Young University  it's possible that just looking at too many snaps of food on Instagram or Pinterest and it can actually curb your appetite for those same types of food.

According to the study, people can't count on one or two pictures of chocolate cake to make that real cake in front of them seem any less palatable. But after seeing SAY 60 pictures of syrupy sweet foods, they might be somewhat less likely to enjoy the real life cake and possibly eat less of it.
