(WHAS11)  Residents in Bloomington, Indiana are dealing with what one expert calls an 'epidemic' of bedbugs.

The bugs have infested private homes, some Indiana University housing and hotels in Bloomington.

Officials said they’ve found evidence of bedbug infestations at the Indiana Memorial Union, an IU fraternity house, IU apartments and married student housing.

Private hotels have also reported problems, as have some local homes.

A meeting will be held in late June to discuss ways to combat the infestation.
