LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- And the push is on locally to get children interested in the medical field, and their own health.
On Wednesday at the Kentucky Science Center there was a chance for children to get a look inside and we mean really inside.
They got to witness open heart surgery.
It's called Public PULSE of Surgery. It is a partnership between the Kentucky Science Center, the Greater Louisville Medical Society and KentuckyOne Health.
The surgery was live linked so the children can watch it.
The program is available to anyone over the age of 11 and there is a cost to attend.
This program is used in other cities across the country, including cities like Chicago.
