(WHAS11)—Even though the government is shutdown, President Obama’s Affordable Care Act is still being rolled out with success in Kentucky.
Officials say nearly 11,000 applications have been completed through KYNECT, Kentucky’s Healthcare Exchange, and almost 5,000 individuals or families have picked a health plan and signed up for coverage that will start at the beginning of 2014.
Enrollment began on Tuesday, the same day the government shutdown, and due to a high amount of traffic on the website, it crashed, but was fixed within a few hours.
Gov. Steve Beshear said he was pleased with the response.
