(WHAS11) -- Your morning cup of coffee could cut your cancer risk.

A new study published in the journal "Cancer Research" claims that caffeine lowers a person's chances of developing Basal Cell Carcinoma the most common form of skin cancer.

Researchers looked at data from more than 112,000 people and found that a quarter of those studied developed basal cell carcinoma over a 20-year-period.

However, doctors say not to load up on coffee, soda and tea just yet because more research is needed to better understand why caffeine cuts the risk.
