Elizabethtown, Ky. (WHAS11)- An Elizabethtown couple helped make history at Jewish Hospital's Transplant Center.
Joann and William Breckenridge took part in the first International Paired Kidney Donor Exchange in America.
Joann received a kidney transplant in Louisville at Jewish Hospital as a result of the paired donation.
And, her husband’s donated kidney may be first to help another person continue the chain.
Friday two of the surgeons involved are being recognized by the Ambassador of Greece, where the first International Paired Donation happened.
