(WHAS11) - The American Academy of Pediatrics is encouraging doctors to prescribe emergency contraception, like Plan B, for teenage girls, before they have sex.
The group said nearly 80 percent of teen pregnancies in the United States are unplanned and those pregnancies happen because no contraception is used or the contraception failed.
According to the organization, doctors are obligated to offer options to their patients, even if they are morally against emergency contraception.
