(WHAS11) -- Youth football is almost a rite of passage for some kids, but if one doctor gets his way that might come to an end.
Dr. Paul Butler is a school board member in Dover, New Hampshire. Butler wants to ban kids from the gridiron saying it's too dangerous for children to play.
New studies show kids who play high school football and even pee-wee league football are exposing themselves to the dangers of head trauma.
So far Dr. Butler's ideas have not trickled down to football practice yet, but the football ban he proposes will be discussed at the Dover school board's November meeting.
