BOSTON, Mass. (WHAS11) -- A Boston company wants to make sure women stay safe while having a good time.

The company called DrinkSavvy has created a line of cups and straws that can detect the presence of date rape drugs.  The products change color if an odorless, colorless or tasteless drug is detected.

The company's founder said he came up with the idea after his own drink was laced with a sedative.

DrinkSavvy expects to roll out the cups and straws by early next year. As for cost, prices are expected to be competitive with what bars already pay for cups and straws now.
