(WHAS11) - A bill moving through a senate committee is offering hope to Kentuckians waiting for a transplant.

The bill updates the procedures for Kentuckians to make, alter or revoke their wishes to donate organs.

The proposal is sponsored by Senate President David Williams.

The executive director of Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates says about 700 people in Kentucky are on waiting lists for organ transplants and this bill could increase the number of people on the donor list.
