(WHAS11) - Many people try to quit smoking but they just can't.

Now there is a vaccine in the works right now that some believe could help you stop smoking for good.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse has given Nabi Biopharmaceuticals $10 million for more research on an anti-smoking vaccine because study results so far have been promising.

The vaccine known as Nicvax is designed to prevent nicotine from entering the brain.

Researchers say without nicotine in the brain, the smoker doesn't get the so-called "high" which causes addiction.
