FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky health officials are asking pharmacies and clinics to return unused doses of swine flu vaccine to comply with a national recall.
Department of Public Health Commissioner William Hacker says the nasal spray doses from the drugmaker Medimmune have declining potency over time. Hacker says there's no health concern, and patients who received Medimmune doses do not need to be revaccinated.
He says Kentucky has received 112,000 doses that were recalled, but he says most have likely already been administered.
Medimmune announced this week it is recalling nearly 5 million doses of the vaccine nationwide because the spray appears to lose strength over time.
