Family identifies homicide victim

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The family of a man found shot to death in Old Louisville this week says they had no idea the victim was their loved one.

On Friday the coroner released the victim's name and said they were having a hard time locating family. That's when 46-year-old Kennith Belt's mother says she heard the news.

Belt was shot early Tuesday morning and was found in the PNC Bank parking lot at 4th and Oak Streets.

They say Belt had just moved back to Louisville after living out of state and they want to know who would do this and why.

“It hurt really, really bad to know that he had been laying by himself and no one told us. No one reached out,” Kennith Addison, the victim’s son, said.
Belt's family is planning a vigil in his memory tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. at 4th and Oak.

If you have any information about his death you are encouraged to call police at 574-LMPD.
