LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Singer Chris Brown and Rihanna are going to have to keep their distance from one another.
The judge's order in Los Angeles followed a guilty plea today from Brown on one count of felony assault on the pop star.
The terms of the plea deal call for the Brown to serve five years of formal probation and six months of community labor.
The plea was entered before the scheduled start of a hearing at which Rihanna had been ready to testify. She hadn't been seeking a stay-away order, but the judge imposed one.
Brown and Rihanna will have to stay at least 50 yards away from each other -- except at industry events, where the distance is reduced to 10 yards. The judge said it's not a one-way order -- and that it will be enforced against Rihanna as well. Her attorney says she doesn't object to the terms of the deal.
Brown was arrested in February, hours after police say he hit and threatened Rihanna after leaving a pre-Grammy party.
