(NEWS RELEASE) -- Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller and State Treasurer and U.S. Senate candidate Richard Mourdock held a roundtable discussion with doctors to discuss how the president’s health care law will adversely affect the health care industry, medical practices and patient care.

Zoeller and Mourdock met with physicians at The Grand in New Albany to discuss "ObamaCare’s" impact on their practices and patients.

“ObamaCare is killing jobs, pushing folks off their insurance plans and actually raising the cost of health care.  As we’ve discussed here today, it’s also killing providers and damaging our hospitals,” declared Mourdock. “We must repeal this dangerous law and replace it with market-oriented, patient-and-doctor driven reforms that actually reduce health care costs.”

Key aspects of the Mourdock health care agenda include:
• making all health care expenses 100 percent tax deductible for all Americans,
• allowing insurance companies to compete across state lines,
• enacting additional medical malpractice insurance and liability reforms

Dr. Dan Eichenberger, of Physicians Associates of Floyds Knobs, welcomed Mourdock. “I am grateful for Treasurer Mourdock’s leadership and commitment to shape health care reform that is based on patient choice, competition and strengthening physician-patient relationships,” said Dr. Eichenberger.

“We now know that Rep. Donnelly’s vote for the medical device tax has forced Cook Industries to cancel plans for new plants, which would have meant new jobs,” concluded Mourdock. “Indiana’s current 20,000 high-paying medical device jobs are also at risk. Donnelly voted against Hoosiers when he voted for the medical device tax.”
