(WHAS11)—As the ads continue to run, candidates need a lot of money to keep the attacks coming and that’s just what is happening in the Senate race in Kentucky.
Both the Republican and Democrat have released big numbers on Tuesday, both said they’ve hit records.
Alison Lundergan Grimes, the Democrat looking to unseat Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, the Republican, reported that she raised more than $4 million in the last three months. This is more than any other candidate in the country in the second quarter of this year.
McConnell, however, set his own record, having raised $25 million overall for his re-election campaign, the most anyone has ever raised for a Kentucky race.
McConnell’s campaign has about $3 million more in the bank currently than his November opponent.
