FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Toyota says it will expand an early childhood learning initiative into 12 more schools around the state in the coming school year.
Media reported that Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky Inc., Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Gov. Steve Beshear and the United Way of Kentucky, made the announcement Monday in Frankfort. In addition, the companies said there are plans to invest $1 million to develop 62 schools by the end of 2016.
The announcement comes following the success of 10 bornlearning Academies that were launched at different schools around the state last year.
The academies offer a series of workshops that teach parents and caregivers how to turn everyday occurrences into learning opportunities for young children through age 5.
