FRANKFORT, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The Kentucky Department of Education is warning parents their child may not be ready to enter kindergarten.

On Tuesday, March 12, findings were released that show most young children in Kentucky are socially and emotionally ready to start kindergarten but the majority are not ready academically.

More than 31,000 students were tested across the state and only 28 percent were ready to succeed without any additional tutoring.
