LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It's a big honor for JCPS, the school system has received a District of Innovation designation.

The distinction comes from the Kentucky Department of Education.

It comes with new special programs and it's meant to ensure student achievement and college readiness.

JCPS Superintendent Doctor Donna Hargens says she wants the whole community to get involved and will be speaking to parents over the summer about creating a new magnet school.
