LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Monday’s cancellation puts Jefferson Count Public Schools at six snow days to make up this school year, and sets June 9 as the current end of the 2013-2014 school year.
The district’s Calendar Committee recommended the school board turn Feb. 24 and 25 into school days instead of being used for professional development and parent/teacher conferences.
JCPS made a similar switch back in the 2008-2009 school year after wind and ice storms messed with the schedule. Back then, teachers held their conferences after school for two nights instead of a full day and the professional development day was made optional at the end of the year.
Under the recommendation, the school year would end on June 5, assuming no other snow days occur.
The recommendation will go before the school board Feb. 10.
