Two high school teams are re-living Muhammad Ali's historic court case right here in Louisville.
Sunday at the Muhammad Ali Center, the teams conducted a mock trial of the draft-dodging case of Clay versus the United States.
Participants assume the roles of attorneys and witnesses to try to sway the jury to accept their side in the case.
But even though the event seems like an event geared toward future lawyers, organizers say the event is more suited to competitive actors.
Marc Rosen, Boyd County Judge, said, “a trial is nothing more than a contest to decide which side has the best lawyers and the witnesses, and that's what we do here. The students portray the parts, and they play the parts, and it's a challenge.”
The winner of the event heads to Philadelphia to represent Kentucky in the national competition.
