Jeffersonville, Ind. (PRESS RELEASE) – The Greater Clark Board of School Trustees has narrowed its search for the position of Superintendent of Schools from three candidates to one finalist.

The finalist for the position of Superintendent of Schools is Dr. Andrew Melin. Dr. Melin is currently the Superintendent of Schools for Valparaiso Community Schools in Valparaiso, Ind. Prior to that, he served as Superintendent for Peru Community Schools in Peru, Ind.

The Greater Clark Board of School Trustees and Superintendent Search Committee invites and encourages staff, parents, students, and community members to attend a Superintendent Finalist Public Forum on Thursday, June 7 at 7:00 p.m.

You may visit the Greater Clark County Schools’ website at www.gcs.k12.in.us to submit a question for consideration in the Superintendent Finalist Public Forum. Questions must be submitted by Thursday, June 7 at 4:00 p.m. and will not be accepted from the audience at the public forum. The forum will be held at the Greater Clark Administration Building located at 2112 Utica-Sellersburg Road in Jeffersonville. Complete details of the offered contract will also be disclosed at the forum.

Melin has experience as a superintendent, assistant superintendent, principal, dean, counselor, and teacher.  Melin, along with approximately fifty community representatives, recently developed a five year action plan for Valparaiso Community Schools focusing on student achievement, finance and operations, and community relations. He also increased the graduation rate at Peru Community Schools from 69 percent to 81 percent.

The Greater Clark Board of School Trustees will vote on the position of Superintendent of Schools at a special meeting on Monday, June 11 at 7:00 p.m.
