BRANDENBURG, Ky. (WHAS11) -- On Thursday two Guston men entered a plea of guilty in Meade County Circuit Court relating to charges of arson and insurance fraud.
Joseph D. Ross, 51, pleaded to 10 years and Joshua D. Fuqua, 31, pleaded to 7 years for their involvement in a staged accident to collect money from an insurance policy on a motor home that was owned by Ross. Ross hired Fuqua back in June of 2011 to drive a pickup truck into his motor home that was parked on Charlie Pyle Road.
The Meade County Sheriff’s Department initially worked the case as a motor vehicle accident but had some concerns about the fire. Deputy Mike Cummings contacted Arson Detective Terry Scott of the Kentucky State Police. An investigation was conducted with the help of the State Fire Marshal’s Office which resulted in the arrest and indictment of Ross and Fuqua.
Final sentencing is set for March 21, 2013.
