Traffic stop yields meth and more than $6K in Nelson Co.

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WHAS11) -- On Monday, April 21, at 10:11 p.m. Major Ray Lewis, with the Bardstown Police, conducted a traffic stop on the Bluegrass Parkway that led to the arrest of Brandon Bishop, of Lexington, on an outstanding warrant for probation violation.

During the traffic stop Lewis called for a K-9 officer to respond to the scene. Officer Kyler Wright responded and deployed his K-9 Zeus. The K-9 indicated on the vehicle and the search of the vehicle revealed a brown bag located in the passenger seat. The brown bag contained approximately 71 grams of methamphetamine, $6,800 in cash, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia used in the packaging of methamphetamine.

Bishop’s 2007 Ford Focus was impounded. Bishop was lodged in the Nelson County Jail and charged with trafficking a controlled substance 1st degree Methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, probation violation and speeding.
