LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Two Louisville men are facing robbery charges after they were accused of robbing a business on Hurstbourne Parkway and another on Dixie Highway.
According to a police report, Wallace Wells, 40, and Travis Smith, 22, worked together to rob the Tiger's Vault and Sally Beauty Supply Sept. 24.
Police said around 4:30 p.m. Wells entered the Tiger's Vault at 2911 Hurstbourne Parkway where he used a gun to demand cash from the store's owner. When the owner did not comply, police said Wells punched the man in his face and demanded his wallet. As the victim reached for his wallet, Wells ran from the building to a car waiting outside.
Nearly four hours later, police said Wells entered the Sally Beauty Supply in the 10000 block of Dixie Highway demanding money with his shirt pulled up over his face. While Wells did not brandish a gun during the robbery, the victim told police she could see the "handle of the gun" in the suspect's pocket. The employee gave the cash to Wells and he left in a vehicle waiting outside.
The report states Smith acted as the getaway driver, waiting outside both businesses while Wells went in - police said he admitted to the crime in a taped statement.
Wells and Smith are both charged with two counts of robbery.
