LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A 43-year old man suspected in a shooting spree along a 100-mile stretch of roads in Michigan near Detroit was arrested and WHAS11 has learned he had ties to Kentucky.
Raulie Casteel was arrested Monday at his home in Wixom, MI. He's suspected of 24 shootings, mostly at moving vehicles, in four counties along the i-96 corridor beginning Oct. 16. One person was wounded.
According to sources, Casteel recently lived in Taylorsville with his wife and daughter.
“If I had to pick someone he would not be someone I would have picked to be accused of that,” said one neighbor.
Neighbors said Casteel had been out of work and moved back to Michigan with his family sometime last spring.
Casteel's mother, Lana Hunt, confirmed her son's arrest to the Detroit Free Press and told the paper she's worried he might be mentally ill but refuses to see a doctor.
Casteel was arraigned Wednesday afternoon and is facing six counts related to the shootings. His bond is set at $2 million, more than the prosecutor recommended. More charges could come.
