Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - A homicide investigation is now underway in Louisville's Newburg neighborhood after a 6-week-old baby boy was found dead at the scene in a black SUV.
At 10:00 a.m. the Crimes Against Children's Unit was notified that there was a missing infant and father.
At noon police were filing a missing person's report and by 4:00 p.m. they were on the scene in the 5500 block of Ridgecrest Road where they found the infant in an SUV.
The child has been identified as 6-week-old Lavion Gamble.
Police have charged 44-year-old Robert Long, the boy's father, with menacing, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse. The Homicide Unit is consulting with the Commonwealth Attorney's Office on additional charges pending the results of the autopsy.
Long is a convicted felon.
