LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – There have been two bank robberies in just one day and now police are on for the person responsible.
The Chase locations at South Preston and South Shelby Streets were robbed Monday morning.
The Preston location was hit around 10:40 a.m. and 30 minutes later, police were called to the 1200 block of South Shelby Street.
The Shelby location is a bank where you have to be buzzed in and walk through a metal detector.
It was a stressful, yet frightening day for workers at the banks.
“I was shocked that it was robbed with the doors locked and stuff," says a Louisville resident.
Louisville Metro Police believe the robberies are not related.
"A Little bit uncommon to have them that close together but it’s not unheard of by any means," Lt. Jennifer Coe said.
In the first robbery, the suspect is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds.
In the second, the suspect is a black male who was actually trapped in the bank but eventually got away. He is described as being between 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build and unshaven.
