CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) -- Police are searching for a man who shot at a store clerk at the Kopp Lane Food Mart in Clarksville on Dec. 27. Police said a man wearing a red bandana over his face ran into the store around 9 p.m. and demanded money from Kanubhai Patel.

Patel was washing his hands in the back at the time when he noticed the man outside on the security camera. He ran in and pointed a gun at Patel. He said he told the man to take the money and tried to close the door to the back room and that’s when the shooter fired the handgun. The bullet went through the door, but Patel wasn’t hurt and no customers were inside the store when it happened.

“This guy is dangerous. If he's shooting at people like this, he's dangerous,” said Darrell Rayborn, Clarksville Police.

Rayborn said he believes this crime is connected to a similar one on Dec 17 at the Sav-a-Step Mart on Eastern Boulevard.

“He did get between four and five hundred dollars in that robbery,” said Rayborn.

No one was hurt in that incident either. Police said the suspect appears to be a black male in his 20’s and wearing a dark hoodie. Anyone with information is asked to call Clarksville Police.
