PAOLI, Ind. (WHAS11) – One person has died and two others were injured Monday afternoon during a shooting in Paoli, Ind. on North Sandy Hook Road.
Indiana State Police said 56-year-old Nicholas Fields died at the scene. Twenty-five-year-old Corey Harris is on life support at University Hospital. Harris was shot in the head. A third person, 29-year-old Daniel Smitson, was shot in the mouth and is recovering at the hospital.
Police said they do not have any witnesses and they won't speculate on a motive, but some of Nicholas Fields' family members said meth may have been a factor.
"This has went on for a long time and I know they've known about it because people seen them out here watching and everything, and I think if they would have got onto it when they should've, I don't think this would have happened out here today," Martha Fields, Nicholas Fields' stepmother, said.
Police said all three victims are from Paoli and none of them were armed when the shooting occurred.
No arrests have been made and police are looking for information that will help with their investigation. If you have any information call ISP Jasper at 812-482-1441 or 1-800-742-7475.
