LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) - - The Clark County Sheriff's Office was checking up on registered sex offenders Saturday.
In a one day effort officers attempted to verify each offender's registered address and identification.
It's called “Project Verify”.
There are 212 sex offenders in the Clark County and they're required to register where they live and keep identification on them at all times.
Detective Sergeant Tim Franklin of the Clark County Sheriff's Office said "The purpose of this is one school's back in session and a majority of the registered offenders are offenders against children and as school returns, we want to make sure that they are indeed living where they are supposed to be living and where they registered at."
Sergeant Franklin says they checked all 212 addresses Saturday and there were several that didn't have the people they were looking for living there.
They won't have specific numbers on how many people are in violation of the sex offender laws until Monday.
