Police arrest second man in connection to shooting on Esquire Alley

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Police arrested 30-year-old Cedric Wells on April 4 after police said he shot and killed 26-year-old Ashley Thomas on March 15 in the 1000 block of Esquire Alley around 3:30 a.m.

This is the second arrest involving the death of Thomas. Roy D. Stone, 21, was arrested shortly after the shooting. He is charged with murder, assault and wanton endangerment.

According to a police report Wells was positively identified by witnesses as being in possession of a handgun and firing it several times that led to the death of Thomas on March 15. Police said a second victim, a woman, was shot in the hand.

The second victim was transported to University Hospital where she was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Wells is charged with murder, complicity to murder, assault and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
