Employee on break calls cops after witnessing theft at railroad yard

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Two men were arrested Wednesday in connection with some stolen metal.

According to the police report, an employee at the Coca-Cola bottling plant on Hill Street called police after he witnessed the men removing pieced of railroad track from the Norfolk Southern Railroad yard.

Police said officers arrived in time to see 26-year-old Jeremy C. Brown and 58-year-old David A. Carr leaving the yard in a pick up truck. The officers conducted a traffic stop and said they could see a pile of metal in plain view in the bed of the truck

A Norfolk Southern officer was called to the scene of the stop and police said he identified the meta as 28 railroad tie plates that belonged to the company and estimated the value at $1400.

Brown and Carr are both charged with theft by unlawful taking.
