LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A Louisville man, 52-year-old Timothy Byrd, was arrested on Dec. 10 at a Louisville Wal-Mart after police say he attempted to leave without purchasing items in his cart.
When an officer arrived at the scene, which was in the 11900 block of Standiford Plaza Drive, and took the man into custody the police say they found three social security cards that did not belong to him; Byrd told police the cards belonged to people who had previously lived with him and had moved out of the county.
According to the police report Byrd told a female Wal-Mart employee while in custody, “take these cuffs off me and see what happens!”
Byrd’s wife was given a shoplifting citation an hour before Timothy Byrd was arrested, police said. When the officer took Timothy Byrd out to a patrol car, in front of the store, Timothy Byrd motioned to his wife and she fled the scene in a vehicle, according to police.
Timothy Byrd is charged with theft by unlawful taking, terroristic threatening and theft of another without consent.
