LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A Louisville man is accused of taking cash and personal items belonging to an elderly person.

According to police, Lenord Madden is charged with theft and knowingly exploiting an adult.

Police said in arrest documentation that Madden did yard work for the victim and, after completing the work, went back to the man twice to ask for money. Police said he told the victim LG&E recently turned off his power and that his kids at home were hot. The man allowed him to get money out of the ATM machine twice.

Madden then asked to borrow the victim's lawnmower, which he did, but then allegedly stole that mower, a weed eater, a leaf blower, a hedge trimmer and an extension cord from the victim's shed.
