Police: Man pistol-whips, steals $1500 from 'childhood friend'

According to police, Deshan Williams called a childhood friend for a ride on March 26, 2014. When the victim picked up Williams, Williams allegedly demanded money from him.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A Louisville man was arrested and is facing charges after police said he attacked and robbed his childhood friend.

According to police, Deshan Williams called a childhood friend for a ride on March 26, 2014.  When the victim picked up Williams, Williams allegedly demanded money from him.

The victim refused and that's when, according to police, Williams took out a gun and hit the victim in the head with it.  The victim then gave Williams $80.

Williams then allegedly went through the man's car and took money he had been saving for a trip.

Deshan Williams was positively identified in a photo lineup and is charged with robbery.  Police said he made off with $1580.

The victim suffered abrasions to the back of his head, but did not require medical attention.
