LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Police say the janitor at a Louisville bank stole the financial information of several customers. Andre Halsell is accused of stealing thousands until a delivery driver put a stop to the scheme.

Halsell, 27, is accused of using people's social security numbers to open lines of credit and then buy electronics online. He says he got those numbers from the victim's bank while he was working there.

Police say all of the victims banked at PNC but they are not sure how Halsell got his hand on the information. Investigators first learned something was wrong when victims started getting bills for things they did not buy or even receive.

According to police Halsell had the items he bought online shipped to the victim and then he would take the packages off the front porch. Police made the connection when he tried to intercept a package from a UPS driver.

UPS sent this statement to WHAS11:

“UPS is proud of our employees and their intervention to help catch the alleged thief. We take our role as a responsible corporate citizen very seriously, and we work regularly with law enforcement agencies to protect our customers and the community as a whole.”
