HELENA, Mont. -- Police in Helena, Mont. said a man walked in to a Papa John’s store and demanded money, but while the clerk was getting money out of the register, the suspect changed his mind and started to cry.
The clerk told police the man said he needed the cash to feed his wife and children. The clerk talked with the man, police said, and decided to make him a pizza and wings.
Police said this is a first of its kind investigation.
"In Helena, I don't recall recently something like this has happened. We have had a few in the past where people have changed their minds. But actually sitting down and waiting for the food and that sort of thing, no," Chief Troy McGee of the Helena Police Department said.
Although police continue to look for him, they said they aren't sure what how they will charge the man.
