LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Louisville Metro Police said 33-year-old Daniel Bentley stole $400 from Cletus Hatfield on Dec. 24, 2013.
According to the police report, Bentley and his two children, ages 4 and 5, were riding in Hatfield’s vehicle.
Hatfield was carrying $400 to pay Bentley for the purchase of a vehicle, according to the police report.
Police said when Hatfield stopped the vehicle Bentley reached over and grabbed the cash from Hatfield’s pocket and tore Hatfield’s shirt.
According to police, Bentley fled the scene on foot and left his two children in the vehicle with Hatfield.
Hatfield reported the incident and the children were returned to their mother, police said.
Bentley was arrested on Feb. 24 and is charged with robbery in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a minor.
