LA GRANGE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- In a news conference Friday La Grange Police said the motive behind a miter plot was drug related. Eight people were arrested in connection with a organized crime investigation on Thursday.
Eight young adults, ages 18 to 22-years-old, are facing organized crime and drug charges after an investigation into gang activity led to arrests overnight in La Grange.
• Casey Endicott, 18, of Shelbyville, Ky.
• Keaton T. Lee, 19, of La Grange, Ky.
• Thomas L. Wenz, 22, of Shelbyville, Ky.
• Roger D. Wilson, 19, of La Grange, Ky.
• Felix A Myers, 20, of Lagrange, Ky.
• Donnie A. Lane, 22, of La Grange, Ky.
• Brandon L. Davis, 18, of La Grange, Ky.
• Gabrielle L. Beach, 22, of La Grange, Ky.
Endicott, Lee, Wenz and Wilson are also facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder. Police said those four knew there would be victims and had a thought out plan to stab two individuals and leave their bodies in a ditch.
The mother of brothers Casey Endicott and Thomas Wenz said her sons suffer from mental health issues. The woman, who did not want to be identified, said both her sons had been in and out of hospitals and are diagnosed bipolar. The woman said her sons have been off their medications and she does not believe they are a danger to anyone.
According to Endicott's mother, he does have a criminal past as a juvenile but she said he was never found competent to stand trial.
Police said all eight suspects have ties to the SouthSide Crip Gang and were actively trying to recruit new members. While the two would-be victims are safe police said they are questioning them and said if those two would be arrested as well if the outcome of this investigation revealed illegal activity on their behalf.
Police also said more arrests are possible in this conspiracy to commit murder plot and are urging the public to come forward if they have any information and call police 502-225-0444.
