MARTIN CO., Ind. (WHAS11) -- Murder charges were filed Thursday afternoon, June 12, against a Shoals, Ind. man for the Sunday night slaying of his son.
John Bruce Tow, 60, of Shoals, was formally charged with murder Thursday afternoon in Martin County Court after an an investigation by the Indiana State Police.
John Tow was in a domestic dispute throughout the day on Sunday, June 8, with his son, Jonathan Tow, 32, of Shoals. The dispute culminated with John striking Jonathan in the neck with a fixed blade knife, severing his carotid artery. Jonathan died as a result of his injury.
John Tow was initially charged Monday morning on a count of Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon. After further investigation by the ISP, the Martin County Prosecutor believed there was ample probable cause to charge John Tow with the murder of his son.
