CARMEL, Ind. (AP) -- The owner of a day care center in an upscale Indianapolis suburb and her daughter have been arrested on preliminary charges including reckless homicide and involuntary manslaughter in the death of a 5-month-old.
The Indianapolis Star reports 43-year-old Stacey Cox and 22-year-old Kirsten Phillips also are charged with felony neglect of a dependent in the death of Conor Tilson in Carmel in January. It was not known whether they had attorneys because their cases were not listed in online court records. Both were being held Friday in the Hamilton County Jail.
According to probable cause affidavits, the child was found in a portable crib with a broken base, so the child was sleeping in a concave pocket. It also said the room had no baby monitor.
