LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Two men are behind bars charged with a string of 23 armed robberies in Metro Louisville. Both Troy Gaines Jr., 22, and Shaundrell Robinson, 33, faced a judge Monday morning in arraignment court.

The two are also accused of hitting two businesses in Radcliff, one in Clarksville and one in Jeffersonville.

Police say their crime spree was fueled by drugs and partying. During three robberies, police say shots were fired but no one was injured. The last robbery was at a Speedway in the 8300 block of Preston Highway. Police say an officer recognized the getaway vehicle.

Gaines and Robinson both have criminal pasts. Gaines spent time behind bars for violating several emergency protective orders. Robinson’s criminal past includes assault and rape charges. According to Louisville Metro Jail records, neither had ever been arrested for robbery before Saturday morning.

Both men are expected to face more charges for the robberies in Radcliff and Jeffersonville.
