LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Louisville Metro Police arrested 32-year-old Richard Smith after they say he held up two people in the 700 block of West Muhammad Ali Boulevard.

Police say Smith “sucker punched” one victim in the face and then told the second victim he had a .38 pistol and demanded cash.

Police say the victim complied and gave Smith a $20 bill, $10 bill and two $5 bills.

After an investigation the $20 bill and two $5  bills were recovered and returned to the victim.

When Smith was at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections, police say he “intentionally spit” in an officer’s face.

Smith is charged with two counts of robbery and assault in the third degree.
