(WHAS11) -- A serial rapist charged with sexual assaults dating back 18 years has entered a guilty plea.
Curtis Boyd entered that plea in Jefferson County court Monday morning. His trial was supposed to start then due to a previous not guilty plea.
Boyd was arrested in March 2011 for rapes that happened in 1994, 1997 and 1998 in Old Louisville and the Highlands. Police got Boyd after DNA he had to provide for an unrelated arrest matched DNA pulled from the scene of those rapes.
"We've taken a sexual predator off the streets. These victims are the real heroes. They were very courageous to come forward. The fact they were willing to come to court to confront this man for what he did to them, that's the only reason we were able to do what we did today," said Prosecutor Tom Van De Rostyne.
Boyd will serve 33 years in prison.
